এম সাইফুল ইসলাম শাফলুঃ টাঙ্গাইলের সখীপুরে জাহাঙ্গীর আলম (৩৫) নামের এক প্রবাস ফেরত গলায় ফাঁস লাগিয়ে আত্মহত্যা করেছেন। সোমবার গভীর রাতে উপজেলার বহেড়াতৈল ইউনিয়নের কালিয়ান গ্রামে এ ঘটনা ঘটে। সে নিজ ঘরের আড়ার সঙে রশি দিয়ে গলায় ফাঁস লাগিয়ে আত্মহত্যা করেন। নিহত জাহাঙ্গীর আলম ওই গ্রামের ফজলুর রহমান খানের ছেলে। এ ঘটনায় সখীপুর থানায় অপমৃত্যু মামলা হয়েছে।
নিহতদের পরিবার সূত্রে জানা যায়, সিঙ্গাপুর থাকাকালীন সময়ে পারিবারিক বিভিন্ন বিষয় নিয়ে জাহাঙ্গীর আলম মানসিকভাবে অসুস্থ হয়ে পড়ে। পরে তাকে কোম্পানি কিছুদিন আগে দেশে ফেরত পাঠায়। প্রতিদিনের ন্যায় সোমবার রাতে খাবার খেয়ে নিজ ঘরে ঘুমিয়ে পড়েন। ভোররাতে তাকে ঘরের আড়ার সাথে ঝুলন্ত অবস্থায় দেখতে পেয়ে থানা পুলিশকে খবর দিলে পুলিশ লাশ উদ্ধার করে ময়নাতদন্তের জন্য টাঙ্গাইল মর্গে পাঠায়। ওই গ্রামের কৃষক শ্রমিক জনতালীগ নেতা মোঃ কামরুল হাসান এ ঘটনার সত্যতা নিশ্চিত করেছেন।
এ ব্যাপারে মামলার তদন্তকারী কর্মকর্তা এসআই মতিন বলেন, লাশের সুরতহাল করার পর ময়নাতদন্তের জন্য টাঙ্গাইল শেখ হাসিনা মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতাল মর্গে পাঠানো হয়েছে।

The incident took place in Kalyan village of Behera Oil Union of the upazila late on Monday night. He committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope in the backyard of his house. Deceased Jahangir Alam is the son of Fazlur Rahman Khan of that village. A case of wrongful death has been registered in Sakhipur police station in this incident.
According to the sources of the family of the deceased, Jahangir Alam became mentally ill during his stay in Singapore due to various family matters. Later, the company sent him back to the country a few days ago. Like every day, on Monday night, he slept at home after eating. In the early morning, he was found hanging from the door of the house and informed the police station. The police recovered the body and sent it to Tangail morgue for post-mortem.
Md. Kamrul Hasan, the leader of the village’s Farmers Sramik Jantalig, confirmed the truth of the incident.
In this regard, SI Matin, the investigating officer of the case, said that the body was sent to Tangail Sheikh Hasina Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
